GIS data is powerful.
It helps project teams understand geography, land use, utilities, environmental constraints, parcel context, transportation networks, and infrastructure. For planning and early decision-making, GIS can be extremely valuable.
But GIS data and survey data are not the same. The question is not whether GIS is useful — it is. The better question is: when is GIS enough, and when does a project require verified survey data?
